Developmental Biology

This is probably one of my favorite things. Developmental biology is the study of the process by which organisms grow and develop. Modern developmental biology studies the genetic control of cell growth, differentiation and "morphogenesis," which is the process that gives rise to tissues, organs and anatomy.

In plain words, how one initial cell can transform into so many different ones at the right place to create the final body...


  1. Chapter 21 of Molecular Biology of the Cell is a good intro (I am actually currently reading that).
